Description
The new Beautiful.ai plugin builds presentations and edits them with you, right from the chat. Describe what you need and get a designed deck in your Beautiful.ai workspace, on your Brand Kit. Then keep going, on that deck or any you already have: rewrite a slide, add or redesign slides, switch layouts, generate images, restructure the deck. It checks how each slide renders and fixes crowded or empty layouts, so it can review a deck as well as build one. Use it to: - Turn a conversation, document, or notes into a ready-to-share deck - Edit and redesign existing presentations, slide by slide - Review a deck and fix what doesn't look right - Export to PDF or PowerPoint, share with a link or with people - Open the deck in the Beautiful.ai editor, in the chat or in a tab Build, review, and refine your decks without leaving the chat.

View Category30 tools agents can invoke
Creates a new presentation in a workspace the way the app's "New presentation" does: the workspace's player settings, a theme (a built-in one, Classic unless a themeId from list_themes is given, or a shared theme of the workspace as sharedThemeId from list_shared_themes; a "Brand Kit" in the app's words to the user) and the slides you give (slides, in deck order: typically one ai-generation placeholder per planned slide, to be filled in with update_slide). The authenticated user becomes its owner. Returns the presentation id to use with the other tools, the slides' ids in deck order (keep them: they are the slides to fill) and the editor url to give the user right away, so they can watch the deck being built. Use this tool only if you have access to the 5 Beautiful.ai skills: beautiful-ai-presentation-building (beautiful-ai://skills/presentation-building), beautiful-ai-slide-design (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-design), beautiful-ai-slide-editing (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-editing), beautiful-ai-slide-elements (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-elements), beautiful-ai-slide-templates (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-templates). They are served as resources of this server (the uris above) and are also part of the Beautiful.ai plugin (its skills folder), so with the plugin installed you have them already. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
create_presentation
Adds a slide built from a raw slide model to a presentation the authenticated user can edit, at the given position of the deck. Open editors show it right away. Returns the new slide's id and the deck after the insertion. Build the model from the element reference (the beautiful-ai://skills/slide-elements resources: one document per element with the fields it expects). Only call this with a model you have already rendered with render_slide and checked: the render came back without render or page errors and the image looks right (all text readable, nothing overflowing, clipped or overlapping, the layout balanced). The change is visible to the user immediately, so never save a model you have not verified this way. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
create_slide
The first step of bringing a file of your own into Beautiful.ai (an image the user shared in the chat or keeps in their project, one you fetched or generated): returns a file id and a signed Cloud Storage url (storage.googleapis.com) to upload the file to. Upload it with an HTTP PUT of its raw bytes as the body (set the Content-Type to the file's type; no other headers, no authentication) within 15 minutes, then pass the fileId to save_image_asset to make an asset of it. Files up to 50 MB. One url per file; a url that expired is replaced by calling this again. NOTE: the upload only works where outbound requests to the domain storage.googleapis.com are allowed; if your environment restricts network access to a list of domains, that domain has to be on it (a PUT that fails to resolve the host means it is not). In that case skip the upload and give save_image_asset the image itself (base64) instead; that works for images up to 2 MB. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
create_upload_url
Exports a presentation the authenticated user can view to a file, the way the editor's Export does: a pdf, or a PowerPoint deck with one picture per slide, or an editable PowerPoint when the workspace allows it (list_workspaces: permissions.exportPresentation for any export, permissions.exportPresentationToEditable for an editable pptx). The file is produced in the background and this waits for it (usually well under a minute; a large deck takes longer: when the answer says the export is still running, call again with the same arguments a little later and the same request returns the file). Returns a download link that is valid for 5 minutes only (expiresAt says until when): give it to the user right away and tell them it expires, and call again for a fresh one if they need it later (an unchanged presentation is served from the cache at once). Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
export_presentation
Finds the presentations of a workspace the authenticated user can edit whose name contains any word of the query, most recently modified first; presentations in the trash and ones they can only view are left out. The match is loose on purpose: look through the candidates (name, slide count, last change) to pick the one the user means, and ask them when several fit. Use it when the user names a presentation instead of giving its id or link (list_workspaces gives the workspace; search each when the user has several and does not say which); an empty query lists the most recent presentations. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
find_presentations
Gets an image asset for a slide the way the app's slide generator does, without you having to supply the image: generated with AI from a description, found on the web, picked from stock photos, or picked among the workspace's Team Assets. Which sources you may use depends on the workspace (list_workspaces: permissions.generativeAIImages for ai, permissions.webImages for web, permissions.stockLibraries for stock, a Team plan and permissions.sharedResources for team); a source you may not use answers with an error naming the ones to use instead. Returns the asset id: put it on the slide exactly as with save_image_asset (content_type "image", content_value the asset id), then render and check the slide, since a web or stock result is one match among several and may not fit, and a web, stock or ai search that finds nothing for the prompt gives an abstract image instead. The source is the user's choice: ask them once per task (their notes may already say; see the slide editing skill), and when they leave it to you prefer team for a workspace that has Team Assets (they are the user's own brand material), web for anything that must look like itself, stock or ai for generic subjects; when nothing is found, try other words or another source. Use save_image_asset instead when the user gives you the image (a file in the chat or their project) or you already have it. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
generate_image_asset
Returns the presentation document (name, deck as slideRefs, theme fields, player settings, ...) of a presentation the authenticated user can view, plus its slide ids in deck order (slideIds) and the ids of the slides in its trash (deletedSlideIds: slides taken out of the deck, which the app deletes for good after 30 days; get_slide still reads them, and update_presentation with them in slideRefs puts them back into the deck). Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
get_presentation
Returns the links to a presentation the authenticated user can view: the editor url (optionally opened on a given slide) and the player url to present it. Give them to the user when you are done with a presentation, or when they ask where to find it. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
get_presentation_links
Returns the raw theme model a presentation the authenticated user can view is rendered with (colors, fonts, styles, logo settings, ...): its shared team theme when it uses one, otherwise the theme fields stored on the presentation. This is the theme to render its slides with (render_slide). To the user a theme is a "Brand Kit" (the app's name for it; theme is the internal name these tools use). Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
get_presentation_theme
Returns the raw model of a slide (template_id, states with the element tree, layout, ...) the authenticated user can view, found by slide id, along with the id of the presentation it belongs to, its position in the deck and the editor url opened on it: the link to give the user when they want to see the slide (the rendered image of render_slide is for you; the user's chat client usually does not display it). A slide with a libraryItemId is tied to a shared slide of the team's library: the model returned is the content it shows (the shared slide's), see update_slide for how it can be changed. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
get_slide
Returns real, complete slide models of a template from the app's public slide gallery: the quickest way to see which fields a working slide of that template has and how its content is structured, before building or changing a slide of it (or switching a slide to it). Pick an example whose amount of content resembles yours; one or two are usually enough. The examples are read-only references, not slides to edit. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
get_slide_examples
Lists the shared (team) themes of a workspace the authenticated user may use: what the app calls the team's Shared Brand Kits (a theme is a "Brand Kit" to the user; theme is the internal name these tools use), the ones its team maintains and has published (hidden ones are left out), the workspace's default one first, each with its id and its full raw theme model (the shape get_presentation_theme returns). Use a theme's model to preview slides with it (render_slide with theme), and its id as sharedThemeId in create_presentation or update_presentation to have a presentation follow the shared theme (it then changes with the theme). Where the workspace's brand guardrails allow no custom themes (permissions.customThemes.use false in list_workspaces), built-in themes and theme changes are refused and every presentation uses one of these shared themes (any of them, the default one unless the user prefers another). Needs permissions.sharedResources in the workspace (see list_workspaces); without it, or in a workspace without shared themes, built-in themes (list_themes) are what there is. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_shared_themes
Lists the app's built-in icons (key and name), or searches them by words. An icon goes on a slide like an image: set `content_type: "icon"` and `content_value: <key>` on the element that holds it (an icon list item, a TextAndImage cell, a step or node marker, a Picture; see the template's examples), it then takes the theme's icon style and colors. Search with a few descriptive words and pick the best match; without a query the whole catalog is returned, which is long. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_icons
Lists the built-in themes of Beautiful.ai (the ones a new presentation can be created with, see create_presentation). To the user a theme is a "Brand Kit": that is the app's name for it, theme is the internal one these tools use; say Brand Kit when talking to the user. Each comes with id, name, color palette, fonts and the main style choices (shape, element style, title slide style, icon style, default background). With a themeId, returns that theme's full raw theme model instead, the shape get_presentation_theme returns: use it to render a slide with that theme (render_slide) before choosing it. A presentation's own theme can differ from these (custom or shared team themes): get_presentation_theme gives the one a presentation uses. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_themes
The shared knowledge base is a set of markdown notes, one topic per note, written by the agents working with Beautiful.ai and shared by all of them: how a feature, a model or an api works, the shape of the data (the fields that matter, allowed values, a minimal snippet), rules and limits, errors with their cause and fix, tricks that worked, dead ends to avoid. Nothing about a particular user, presentation or account belongs here (that goes into the user's notes, see list_user_notes). Lists every note with its name, size and last change. Call it before starting on a task and read the notes whose name matches what you are about to work with (read_shared_knowledge_note); they are the fastest way to learn how something works or what to watch out for. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_shared_knowledge_notes
Lists the slide templates a slide can use (the template_id of a slide model), as the app defines them: id, title, description, category, search tags, the element type that renders it and related templates. With a templateId, returns every prop of that template instead: its defaultData (what an empty slide of it starts with: the shape of states[0] and layout), the element type, and its capabilities (header, footer, tray layouts, color backgrounds, theming, animations, template switching, ...). Use get_slide_examples for complete, real slide models of a template. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_slide_templates
The user's notes are private to the authenticated user: markdown notes, one topic per note, about what helps make slides and presentations for this user: their preferences (tone, language, amount of text, favorite templates and themes, what they dislike), their company, products, brand (colors, fonts, logo assets), audience and recurring subjects, and anything they told you to remember. No other user ever sees them. Lists every note with its name, size and last change. Call it at the start of every task and read the notes that apply (read_user_note), so the slides fit this user without asking again. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_user_notes
Lists the workspaces the authenticated user is a member of, oldest first, with the workspace id and name, the user's role in it (owner, member or librarian; workspaces they are only a guest of are left out), its plan (tier: basic, pro, team or enterprise; type and name) and the user's permissions in it: feature -> action -> allowed, e.g. permissions.resources.create (may create presentations), permissions.generativeAI.use, permissions.exportPresentation.use, permissions.customThemes.use; what their user groups allow, limited to what the plan includes. Check them before promising the user an action in a workspace. Most other tools act within a workspace, so call this first to find the workspace id to use. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
list_workspaces
Opens the editor of a presentation the authenticated user can edit in the interactive Beautiful.ai app, right in the chat (hosts that support MCP Apps: Claude, ChatGPT): the app shows a button to open the editor, and the editor opens fullscreen when the user clicks it (on a phone or tablet it only says that editing needs a desktop). Use it when the user wants to see, work on or present a presentation without leaving the chat. While the editor is open, the app reports the slide the user is looking at as model context with their next message, so "this slide" means that one. The fullscreen editor hides the conversation (the user can still type below it), so the better experience is the editor in its own browser tab, which updates live as you work: always give the editor link from the result and recommend it, with the in-chat app as the alternative. The result also carries the player link. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
open_presentation
Returns the markdown of one shared knowledge base note (see list_shared_knowledge_notes for the names). Trust the notes, but verify as you go and correct a note that turns out to be wrong (write_shared_knowledge_note). Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
read_shared_knowledge_note
Returns the markdown of one user note (see list_user_notes for the names). Trust the notes, but verify as you go and correct a note that turns out to be wrong (write_user_note). Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
read_user_note
Renders a raw slide model with a theme in the app's renderer and returns a jpeg image per stage: to look at a stored slide (get_slide, then render it) and to check your work before saving a slide. The image is for you; the user's chat client usually does not display it, so to show the user a slide give them the editor link (get_slide's editorUrl) instead. The theme is either given (theme) or taken from a presentation (presentationId, see get_presentation_theme). The renderer swallows layout errors and still produces a (broken or partly empty) image: `ok` is false and `renderErrors`/`pageErrors` tell what went wrong, with the tail of the renderer log; the errors usually name the element class and model field that is invalid. Always look at the image to judge the result (text readable, nothing overflowing or overlapping, layout balanced), do not rely on `ok` alone. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
render_slide
Saves an image as an asset of the authenticated user, the way an upload in the editor does, and returns its asset id. The image is either one you uploaded (create_upload_url, then a PUT of the file to its upload url: give the fileId) or, when you cannot reach the upload url, a small one (up to 2 MB) given inline as base64 (give image). Any image works: one the user shared (in the chat or from their project), one you fetched from the web, one you generated or drew. To use it on a slide, set `content_type: "image"` (or "logo") and `content_value: <assetId>` on the image element of the model (the `childElement` of a TextAndImage cell, a Picture, a logo item, the `image` of a title slide, a tray image; see the template's examples for where image elements live), then render and save the slide. The same image saved twice yields the same asset. An uploaded file is removed once saved. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
save_image_asset
Creates a password-protected link to a presentation the authenticated user can edit, the way the app's Share dialog's secure sharing does: the player asks whoever opens it for the password. Needs permissions.securedSharing in the presentation's workspace (list_workspaces; not in the Basic plan). The presentation becomes secured (privacy "secured"): any public link it had stops working, which the result lists (linksNoLongerWorking) so you can tell the user. The user chooses the password; never invent one unless they ask you to, and do not repeat it in your reply beyond confirming the link is set. Give the user the returned url. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
create_password_protected_link
Gives a person access to a presentation by email, the way the app's Share dialog adds a collaborator: with "view" access they can see and present it, with "edit" access they can edit it too. They get an email about it (with the user's note when one is given); a person with a Beautiful.ai account joins the presentation's workspace as a guest and has the access right away, a person without one gets an invite that grants it when they sign up (the result says which, hasAccount). The authenticated user needs to be allowed to manage the presentation's sharing (its owner and editors normally are). When the workspace prohibits collaboration with people outside it (permissions.externalWorkspacesCollaboration.use is false in list_workspaces), only members of the workspace can be shared with. One person per call. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
share_presentation_with_user
Creates a public link to a presentation the authenticated user can edit, the way the app's Share dialog does: anyone with the link can view the presentation. The presentation becomes public (its privacy is "public"): any password-protected link it had stops working, which the result lists (linksNoLongerWorking) so you can tell the user. Each call makes a new, named link: one per purpose, not one per request (a link you made earlier in the conversation still works). Give the user the returned url. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
create_public_link
Updates a presentation the authenticated user can edit: its name, its deck (slideRefs: which slides it has and in which order; a slide left out goes to the trash, a trashed slide put in is restored, see get_presentation's deletedSlideIds) and/or its theme (theme: attributes of the current theme to change, e.g. colors or fonts; or sharedThemeId: a shared theme of the workspace to switch to; a theme is a "Brand Kit" to the user, the app's name for it). Give only the fields that change. Open editors and the library pick the change up right away. Read the slide editing and the presentation building skills before the first call.
update_presentation
Writes fields of a slide's raw model (the authenticated user must be able to edit its presentation); open editors see the change right away and a revision is kept. Read the slide first (get_slide) and send the full value of every field you change; keep element ids you did not mean to change. The id and presentationId cannot be changed. A slide with a libraryItemId is tied to a shared slide of the team's library and shows its content, which only the app edits, so it takes no changes as it is: to change it in this presentation only, send libraryItemId: null along with the changes, which converts it into a regular slide owning a copy of the content (it stops following the shared slide; say so to the user). A slide whose libraryItemId is its own id is the shared slide itself and cannot be converted: add a regular slide from its model with create_slide and remove it with update_presentation instead. Build the model from the element reference (the beautiful-ai://skills/slide-elements resources: one document per element with the fields it expects). Only call this with changes (the stored model with your changes applied) you have already rendered with render_slide and checked: the render came back without render or page errors and the image looks right (all text readable, nothing overflowing, clipped or overlapping, the layout balanced). The change is visible to the user immediately, so never save a model you have not verified this way. Use this tool only if you have access to the 5 Beautiful.ai skills: beautiful-ai-presentation-building (beautiful-ai://skills/presentation-building), beautiful-ai-slide-design (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-design), beautiful-ai-slide-editing (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-editing), beautiful-ai-slide-elements (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-elements), beautiful-ai-slide-templates (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-templates). update_slide
Creates a shared knowledge base note or replaces the content of an existing one. Only Beautiful.ai admin accounts may write shared notes; for any other user the call is refused, so do not retry it. It is for every agent that comes after you: write notes generously, as you go. If you had to look something up or figure something out (how a call works, what a field expects, why something failed), it is worth a note; record failures too. Prefer small specific topics ("textlist-column-layout" over "textlist"). Only about Beautiful.ai, its data, tools and behavior. Never leak user-related data into a shared note: every agent of every account reads them, so nothing from the user's slides or messages, nothing about the user (preferences, brand, audience), no presentation, slide, asset, workspace or account ids or names, not even as an example (make examples up from neutral placeholder content); anything about the user goes into their notes (write_user_note). One topic per note; extend or correct the existing note on a topic rather than creating a near-duplicate (read it first, this call replaces its content), and remove what you have proven wrong. Keep notes factual and compact (a title line, then bullets or a minimal snippet, usually well under 40 lines). Note names are lowercase slugs with hyphens, e.g. "table-cell-colors" (a ".md" extension is accepted and dropped). Use this tool only if you have access to the 5 Beautiful.ai skills: beautiful-ai-presentation-building (beautiful-ai://skills/presentation-building), beautiful-ai-slide-design (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-design), beautiful-ai-slide-editing (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-editing), beautiful-ai-slide-elements (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-elements), beautiful-ai-slide-templates (beautiful-ai://skills/slide-templates). write_shared_knowledge_note
Creates a user note or replaces the content of an existing one. Write down what you learn about the user as you go: a preference they state ("fewer words", "always dark themes"), a correction they make to your work, facts about their company, brand, products and audience, the decks they build and for whom. Prefer small specific topics ("preferences", "brand", "audience", "company"). Only what is useful for making their slides; nothing about the app itself (that goes into the shared knowledge base) and no secrets or credentials.
