Description
Check ABN looks up Australian business details from the Australian Business Register (ABR) without leaving ChatGPT. Details come from the ABR's public bulk data, and every card shows the date of the data it used. What you can do - Check an ABN (11 digits) or ACN (9 digits): see the legal name, whether the ABN is active and since when, GST registration and its start date, business names, entity type, and state and postcode. - Search by business name: get a short pick list of up to 8 active matches, optionally for one state, then open the one you want. - Check a supplier invoice: give the supplier's ABN, the invoice date and the GST charged, and get a pass, warning or fail with a one-line reason. For example: the ABN was cancelled before the invoice date (fail: withhold 47% unless they give you a Statement by a supplier), GST was charged while the supplier wasn't registered for GST (fail: no GST credit), or the name on the invoice doesn't match the register (warning). Who it's for Small businesses, sole traders, bookkeepers and anyone paying a supplier who wants to confirm an ABN is active and registered for GST before paying an invoice. Where the data comes from Results come from a weekly copy of the ABR, refreshed every Thursday (source: ABR ABN Bulk Extract, CC BY 3.0 AU; not endorsed by the ABR). Every card shows the date of that weekly ABR copy, so changes made at the ABR after that date won't appear yet. Live lookups from the ABR web services will be added later. Limits - One lookup at a time. No bulk lists or exports. - Name search matches the start of active business names only. - The weekly ABR copy has no history. For an invoice dated before a business's current ABN or GST start date, Check ABN says it can't confirm instead of guessing. - The invoice check is general information, not tax advice. - Check ABN doesn't save your searches or results. Our host keeps basic request logs without search terms for about an hour; see the privacy policy. Check ABN is an independent tool. It is not a government service and is not made or endorsed by the Australian Government, the Australian Business Register or OpenAI. Details from the Australian Business Register. Check them before you rely on them. Not a government service.
