GoTo's Recommendations

Add or position a person, place or thing on the member's chosen ranked lists only after their explicit endorsement. An untried ChatGPT suggestion should use save_wanna_try instead. Read each target with get_goto_list immediately before editing; show its audience, and pass exact updated_at and audience. For places, use find_goto_place and the chosen location's place_candidate; for catalog items use find_goto_items or a confirmed circle result's catalog ID; for a new physical product provide its exact HTTPS product_url and name. Text fallback must preserve identifying context (author, business town) and remains unverified. Append unless the member chooses a rank; position moves an existing duplicate rather than duplicating it. A full list requires the member's explicit choice of replace_pick_id from that list; never select a replacement yourself. A stale-list error means read again and reconcile the intended edit. Generate UUID request_key and reuse identical payload on timeout. Multiple lists succeed atomically. Show returned ranks, audiences and app links, plus any outside_area warning. This does not mark a Wanna try as tried or send a personal thank-you. Normal shared-list activity may appear to the member's circle.

Use to check a ready shortlist against the member’s lists, Wanna try and authorized circle when the user requests a text-only answer. For visual recommendations use show_goto_recommendations; for discovering personal picks by category use check_goto_recommendations. Supply place address/city or catalog creator to confirm identity. Return inline ranks and recommender names, preserving possible/partial/unavailable states. Never treat an unchecked item as unmatched. Reads only; does not save or endorse.

check_goto_recommendation_batch

Use when the user asks where to eat, what to read or watch, what to buy, or which local professional to use—even without naming GoTo’s. Find relevant picks from their ranked lists and authorized circle to personalize recommendations alongside new discoveries. Start with category (e.g. Pizza or Books); no account lookup is needed. For a ready shortlist, use show_goto_recommendations instead. Exclude recipes, factual questions and requests to avoid personal/circle sources. For requests specifically from friends or the circle, set source=circle; do not substitute the member’s own lists or web discoveries. Follow next_offset even when a filtered page is empty, and use circle_context for sharing guidance. This only reads; it never saves or endorses.

check_goto_recommendations

Identify the connected account when the member asks which account is linked or an account ambiguity needs clarification. Other tools are already scoped to that account; this is not a required setup call before recommendations.

get_connected_account

Create a ranked recommendation list only when asked. Resolve thing_id with find_goto_kinds and applicable area_id with find_goto_areas; omit area for All-time. Optional name is a custom list label. Explicitly establish audience: private (Just me) or circle. Do not silently share. Reuses an identical existing list without changing its audience. Can create an empty list; add the first endorsed item with add_goto_to_lists afterwards. Use a new UUID request_key; reuse it and identical arguments after a timeout. Show the returned list link and audience.

Find approved everyday categories and subcategories before saving. Use the returned ID; never invent one or misclassify health, legal, money or other private-life content to bypass restrictions.

find_goto_kinds

Resolve a catalog identity before saving an item. For movies and TV shows this uses the same TMDB search as the GoTo’s app, including its poster. Use the destination category’s thing_id and search only the title (for example The Gentlemen, without year, TV series, or creator appended). Compare kind, release_year and makers to the intended title; ask if ambiguous. Save the matched id as catalog_item_id with add_goto_to_lists so its TMDB poster and details appear in the app. Do not replace a verified catalog match with a text answer. A lookup error is not a missing title; retry or explain before offering a text-only save. Other categories search GoTo’s existing catalog by title and creator. Results identify items, not endorsements. For a missing book, preserve title and author in a text recommendation. For a new physical product use its specific HTTPS product page with add_goto_to_lists. Never invent catalog IDs or poster URLs.

find_goto_items

Find a real business by its name and town before saving it. Use a thing_id from find_goto_kinds. Searches GoTo’s places, then Apple Maps. If multiple branches could match, show addresses and ask the member to choose. Never guess a branch or invent a candidate ID. Candidates expire after 20 minutes. Empty results or lookup failure allow a plain-text save; do not claim contact details are verified. This search does not save an item.

find_goto_place

Find supported state, county, region or city IDs for a new GoTo’s list. Match the full area label; ask if ambiguous. All-time means omit area_id. Never invent an ID.

find_goto_areas

Find the connected member’s own ranked GoTo’s lists by title, including private lists in eligible everyday categories. Returns 20 at a time; use next_offset for the next page. Does not search friends or Wanna try.
