Hertz Car Rental

Get available add-ons for the selected vehicle and coverage. Requires the coverage_handle (starts with HANDLE:CHECKOUT_COVERAGE:) from checkout_coverage. Pass the chosen add-on ids, or an empty array to skip, to checkout_summary. Returns an addon_handle required for checkout_summary.

Get available coverage / protection plan options for a selected vehicle. Requires the vehicle_handle (starts with HANDLE:CHECKOUT_VEHICLE:) from checkout_vehicles. The list always includes an explicit "No coverage" option (id NONE) last; real plans precede it in tier order — Complete Protection, then Standard, Basic, Minimum. Present each plan's name, price, and description (when present) so the user can compare before choosing. Pass the chosen coverage id, or NONE to decline, to checkout_addon. Returns a coverage_handle required for checkout_addon.

Build a full pricing summary for the selected vehicle, coverages, and add-ons. Requires the addon_handle (starts with HANDLE:CHECKOUT_ADDON:) from checkout_addon. Returns a summary_handle (starts with HANDLE:CHECKOUT_SUMMARY:) required for checkout_complete. Returns per-track amounts and human-readable summaries (pay_now_amount / pay_now_summary and pay_later_amount / pay_later_summary); lead with the cheaper pay-now (prepaid) option when present, with pay-later as the alternative. Returns checkout_url ONLY when the booking must be completed on hertz.com: it carries the pay-now and pay-later quotes (or whichever is available) so the user can choose how to pay on hertz.com. If checkout_url is present, present it to the user and do NOT call checkout_complete; if it is absent, complete the booking in chat via checkout_complete.

Start a rental car booking. Returns up to 3 available vehicles — each with a display name, short description, price, and per-day rate — for the selected pickup and dropoff locations and dates. Pass the customer's preferred vehicleSize and/or vehicleType when stated and the results are ranked best-match first, cheapest first within an equal match; when neither is given they are ranked by price. The per-day rate leads with the cheaper pay-now (prepaid) rate when available, with pay-later as the alternative. Pass the primary driver's age when known — it affects availability and pricing (e.g. young-renter fees) and defaults to 25 if omitted. Returns a vehicle_handle (starts with HANDLE:CHECKOUT_VEHICLE:) that must be passed to subsequent checkout tools.

Search for rental car locations by name, city, or airport. If no search text is provided, returns locations closest to your detected location.
