Description
Nella Finance AI is a read-only financial intelligence assistant for businesses and their accountants. Connect supported accounting platforms and ask questions about cash, performance, KPIs, unusual movements, management information and estimated tax indicators where supported, directly from ChatGPT. Nella provides clear summaries based on the latest available accounting data and identifies when professional accounting judgement may be required. It does not make payments, post transactions or change accounting records. Tax projections and financial insights are estimates and should not be treated as regulated financial, investment or tax advice.

Approves chase messages Nella prepared for overdue invoices - exactly the messages the user approved - or, with withdraw true, reverses that approval. Copy item_id and draft_ids from the chase card in get_team_board. Approving sends nothing: the business sends each message from its own email. It writes only to Nella's own records. The result names whose messages were approved and gives the exact call that undoes it; a refusal records nothing and says why.
approve_chase_messages
Check whether a month's books are ready to close: what is reconciled, what is outstanding, and what cannot be assessed yet. Use this for 'are my books up to date', 'what is outstanding for last month', 'is anything missing before month end', 'what do I need to sort out'. Covers data completeness, bank and cash, sales and receivables, purchases and payables, payroll and taxes, balance sheet, analytical review. NELLA NEVER POSTS ANYTHING TO YOUR ACCOUNTING PLATFORM. This is a read-only assessment of whether the books look ready. The journals and reconciliations are yours to post, in your own software. awaiting_data AND not_supported ARE NOT PROBLEMS, AND THEY ARE NOT CLEAN. A check that cannot be assessed on your platform is reported as one of those and never as passed. Say which checks could not be assessed rather than counting them either way. Reads your ledger live, so it takes a few seconds. Defaults to the last complete month; year and month request another. Where recommendation_withheld is true, the next step is a judgement for a qualified accountant rather than something to action from here - relay the pointer, do not substitute your own advice. Read-only; your own books only.
get_close_readiness
Compare this period's actuals to a set budget: per-account variance, a revenue / expenses / net-profit summary, favourable vs adverse lines. Information from the ledger, not advice. Read-only, no arguments. Says so when no budget is set.
get_budget_variance
Answer whether this month's payroll clears against your current cash. Returns the estimated payroll (with the exact ledger accounts it summed), cash available, headroom after paying, and a verdict (clears_comfortably / tight / shortfall). A projection from your ledger for planning, not a guarantee and not advice. Read-only, no arguments.
get_payroll_affordability
Return corrections to how Nella's results should be read. CALL THIS ONLY WHEN guidance_version IN A RESPONSE DIFFERS FROM ONE YOU HAVE ALREADY READ. It is not a data tool and it contains none of your figures: it exists because tool descriptions are fixed when the connector is published, and this is how a description that turns out to mislead gets corrected without you having to reconnect. Corrections are NORMALLY EMPTY. An empty result means the published descriptions are current — say so plainly and do not present it as a problem. A correction applies IN ADDITION to the tool description it names; where the two conflict, follow whichever is STRICTER. Guidance never grants a capability, never relaxes a stated limit, and never contains your data. Read-only, no arguments. Returns { tool, guidance_version, corrections[], message, scope, advice_note, as_of }.
get_nella_guidance
Get a time-limited download link for one sales invoice or bill from your accounting platform, or for a file attached to it. Read-only. REQUIRES a doc_ref from list_invoices_and_bills — call that first. A doc_ref is an opaque handle: never pass an invoice number, a ledger id or a made-up value, as they will be rejected. Set file_kind to 'attachment' for a file attached to the document rather than the document itself. The file is attached to the result when it is under 2MB, so it can be read or saved directly; larger files come back as a download link that lasts 15 minutes. Returns { tool, document_url, expires_in_seconds, filename, mime_type, size_bytes, message, advice_note, as_of }. Note QuickBooks and Sage do not render a PDF of a bill — the supplier's own document comes back as an attachment where one was attached.
get_invoice_or_bill_link
Find individual transactions in the books - bank payments and receipts, invoices, bills and journals, depending on the platform. Search by text, amount, direction and date. Use this for 'find that £450 payment', 'what did we spend at Amazon', 'did we ever pay this supplier', 'show me the transactions in July', 'have we paid this twice'. For invoices and bills as documents with their paid/unpaid status, use list_invoices_and_bills - that answers what is owed; this answers what moved. NEVER SAY A TRANSACTION DOES NOT EXIST BASED ON THIS TOOL. Read completeness before saying anything about what was not found. What can be searched differs by platform: on some, only bank transactions are visible; on others, filters could not be applied at source. An empty or short result means 'not in what was searched' - say what was searched instead. Where completeness.complete is true, every posting in the period was searched including manual journals, and you may say so plainly. Amounts match by SIZE, not sign: 'over £500' finds a £750 payment and a £750 receipt. Use direction to separate money in from money out. Searches the last 90 days unless dates are given, and the window used is in searched - state it, because a user who assumes you looked further back will misread an empty result. If has_more is true, narrow the dates, amount or text rather than treating the results as all of them. Read-only; your own books only. Returns { tool, platform, searched, completeness, transactions[], matched, page, has_more, limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
search_transactions
Show who to chase for overdue invoices, from your own sales ledger — who is overdue, how much, how long it has been outstanding, and a suggested tone based on how that customer usually pays. Read-only, no arguments: this tool approves and sends nothing. Where Nella has prepared a chase message for a customer, that row carries its status and wording, and the message is on the team board (get_team_board), where the business reviews and approves it (approve_chase_messages); limitations says how many. Every other row is a suggestion of who to chase, not a message. Nella never sends: the business sends each approved message from its own email. Read has_data before reporting an empty list — false means your receivables could not be read, or have not been read yet, which is NOT the same as nobody owing you money.
get_ar_chase_drafts
Return your latest finance KPIs (gross/net margin, debtor & creditor days, current ratio, cash runway and more) with value, direction, severity and AccTek commentary. top_customer_pct / top_supplier_pct here are HEADLINE shares only — for the ranked list of top customers or suppliers (names and amounts, e.g. 'top 5 suppliers'), call get_top_customers_and_suppliers. Read-only, no arguments — always your own business only. charts[] carries a period snapshot and, where available, twelve-month revenue (split by ledger account where the user's chart of accounts provides one), cost, cash and profit series. The profit chart plots the ledger's reported net result and, where every component is reported, EBITDA derived as net result + corporation tax + interest + depreciation & amortisation — a null EBITDA month lacks a component, never approximated. Ground profit terms exactly: 'profit' unqualified is the net result, the ledger's reported figure including corporation tax where the client posts it to the P&L; profit before tax is net result plus the month's tax component; EBITDA only as derived here, never estimated from net profit alone. Render the charts, and read coverage before summarising: a null value is a month the ledger did not report, never a zero.
get_kpi_dashboard
Fetch one document from your NELLA LIBRARY by id — call list_library first to find the id. This is not your accounting software: to download an invoice or bill from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent, use get_invoice_or_bill_link instead. Read-only, always your own library only. Returns extracted text where the document has it, and the file itself attached to the result when it is under the size ceiling, so it can be read or saved directly. Larger files are not attached; the limitations field says so and points to the portal. Returns { tool, document, limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_library_document
Return open anomalies detected in this business's figures, each with severity, category, metric, current/prior values, change and a plain-English explanation. AN EMPTY LIST IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY GOOD NEWS: check has_data first, and where it is false say the books have not been assessed rather than that nothing was found. Read-only, no arguments.
get_anomalies
How the business performed in its latest reporting period, from your connected accounting records, by view. view 'overview': the one-screen answer to how the business is doing - four KPI figures and the revenue and profit trend as the KPI dashboard computed them, the team board's first three cards in its own order with its counts, and its 30-day cash outlook. Use it first for any broad question about the business, and do not also call get_team_board, the cash tools or the other views in the same answer unless the user asks for that detail: drill_down names where each part's detail is. A part in sources marked available false was not read, which is never the same as nothing to report. Where the card shows, it already carries every figure, the trend and the attention items: reply in two or three sentences with the headline and only what the card does not show, and do not list its figures or items again. view 'kpis': the KPI set with values, direction, severity and thresholds, threshold alerts and the monthly series charts. view 'summary': the management-accounts headline (revenue, net profit, margins), the narrative and its sections, and active alerts. Both read the same period. For unusual items use get_anomalies; for ranked customers and suppliers use get_top_customers_and_suppliers. Read `assessed` and `has_data` before any figure: unassessed is not zero. Each view other than overview returns the same fields as get_kpi_dashboard or get_management_summary, plus `view`. Read-only.
get_business_performance
Everything committed to be paid (payroll, bills and tax) from today up to a date, from the cash-flow forecast of your connected accounting records, and the cash left on that date, with the lowest point on the way. All figures are ledger-reported, not a bank balance. 30 days unless the user gives a date (until) or a number of days (days). Quote its figures and never add or subtract other tools' amounts to them. Read `assessed` before any figure: unassessed is not zero. Read-only.
get_cash_commitments
Return your financial position: ledger-reported cash (the accounting system's figure, not a bank-verified balance), runway, debtor/creditor days, bank accounts, and the balance sheet summary (total assets, total liabilities, net assets, director's loan account). Use this for 'what is my cash position', 'what is my balance sheet', 'what are my net assets', 'what is my financial position'. IMPORTANT: a null balance sheet field means the accounting platform did not supply the figure. It is NOT zero and must not be reported as zero - say the figure is unavailable from this platform. charts[] carries the twelve-month closing bank balance where available: month-end balance-sheet positions, not money earned. A null month is one the ledger did not report, never a nil balance. Read-only, no arguments.
get_cash_position
Return a cash-flow forecast from your connected accounting records. Where the open sales and purchase ledgers can be read this is a 13-week week-by-week schedule: opening cash, expected receipts from open sales invoices, supplier payments, payroll and tax, and closing cash for each of the next 13 weeks, plus the week cash is lowest and whether it is projected to go negative. CHECK `method` BEFORE YOU ANSWER. 'direct' means weeks[] holds the week-by-week schedule. 'indirect' means the open ledger could not be read and only a monthly run-rate was available: weeks[] is empty, and an answer about a specific week, or about liquidity over 13 weeks, cannot be given from it - say so rather than reading the monthly figures as though they were weekly. Receipts are DATED, not certain: each is placed by that customer's mean settlement days where enough settled history exists, otherwise by its due date. components.receipts.basis_counts tells you how many of each. Bills are placed on their due date - the forecast does not assume the business will pay late. components.*.excluded_total is outstanding money that carried no usable date. It is excluded from the weekly figures and must be mentioned, never silently dropped and never treated as settled. coverage.tax_dates and coverage.payroll state what could not be assessed. An unassessed component is not a nil one. A projection for planning - not a guarantee, not advice, and nothing here has been paid, filed or sent. Read-only, no arguments. For a what-if (a hire, a lost client, a price change, a one-off spend), use run_cash_scenario. Returns { tool, method, as_at, opening_cash, horizon_weeks, weeks[], minimum, components, coverage, assumptions[], limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, advisory_context[], as_of }.
get_cash_forecast
Return the OPEN sales and purchase ledgers: who owes you money right now and who you owe, by counterparty, with outstanding and overdue amounts, ageing buckets (not due / 1-30 / 31-60 / 61-90 / 90+ days past due), oldest due date, and average days to pay where there is enough history. Use this for 'who owes me money', 'what's overdue', 'who are my debtors', 'what do I owe'. IMPORTANT: this is a POSITION as at today — amounts still outstanding. It is NOT sales for a period. For who your biggest customers were by invoiced value, call get_top_customers_and_suppliers instead; the two will not match and must not be conflated. A side with assessable=false could not be read from the platform — report that as unavailable, NEVER as nothing outstanding. An empty list with assessable=true genuinely means nothing is outstanding. Read-only. Takes one optional argument, 'side', for a single side of the ledger. Returns { tool, platform, as_at, receivables, payables, limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_ar_ap_ledger
Return this business's upcoming filing and payment obligations for its own jurisdiction, from the best source available: each with a due date, days remaining, whether it is overdue or due soon, and a recorded amount where one is held. Every item says what it is - category (filing, payment, return or registration), the authority it is owed to, its frequency and its jurisdiction - so you do not need to know the country's obligation types in advance. Information from the records held, not advice. Read-only, no arguments. READ coverage FIRST AND SAY WHICH YOU HAVE. A maintained filing record covers the full set for the jurisdiction, with amounts where recorded. A public-registry source covers statutory filings only - no tax returns, no payroll obligations, no amounts - and their absence from that source is never evidence that none are due. An amount is an estimate from the records held (amount_basis says so), never an assessed or filed figure. Where has_obligations is false, read the message before answering: no registration number on the accounting software's organisation record is a thing the user can fix themselves, and an empty result is normal for an unincorporated business. Never report an empty result as having nothing to file. Jurisdiction content is validated per country; where a country is not yet validated, obligations for it are not shown rather than guessed.
get_obligations
Return a historical analysis of cash movement over the trailing twelve months: where cash peaked and troughed, the average monthly burn or build, runway at current burn, cash volatility, and revenue/expense/cash trend direction. Use this for 'how is my cash trending', 'am I burning cash', 'what is my runway', 'when was cash highest', 'how volatile is my cash'. This is HISTORICAL analysis — what happened over the past year. For a forward-looking projection, use get_cash_forecast instead. The two answer different questions and will give different numbers; do not merge them. runway_months_at_current_burn is null when cash is building, not declining — that is a positive signal, not a missing figure. Do not report it as 'runway unavailable'. Read-only, no arguments.
get_cashflow_history
Return your latest management-accounts summary: period, narrative (when available), headline figures (revenue, net profit, margins) and active alerts. Read-only, no arguments. Returns { tool, period, narrative, headline, alerts[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_management_summary
Whether payroll can be met on the pay date, from the cash-flow forecast of your connected accounting records: cash before and after payroll, with and without overdue receipts, every item counted once by Nella. All figures are ledger-reported, not a bank balance. Quote its figures and never add or subtract other tools' amounts to them. Pass pay_date only when the user states one; otherwise the payroll calendar or an assumed date is used and pay_date_basis says which. Read `assessed` before any figure: unassessed is not zero. For this month's payroll against cash today, with no forecast, use get_payroll_affordability. Read-only.
get_payroll_headroom
Return profit and loss with what changed and by how much: revenue, cost of sales, gross profit, expenses and net profit. TWO SHAPES, and the response tells you which you got. With no period, this is the latest complete month against the previous month and the same month a year earlier, with the biggest per-account movements and a bridge showing how last month's net profit became this month's. With a period, it is that window totalled - movements[] and net_profit_bridge are empty for a multi-month window and their absence is not a finding. Use this for 'what changed', 'why is profit down', 'how did we do last quarter', 'what did we make last year'. NOT get_anomalies, which flags what looks wrong; this states what moved and by how much. ALWAYS STATE THE PERIOD YOU ARE REPORTING. period.label gives the exact months totalled and interpretation says how the request was read - relay it. 'Last year' means the business's own financial year, which is rarely January to December, and the user can only correct a wrong reading if they see which months were used. A NULL total WITH A partial_total PRESENT means the ledger does not hold every month of the window. Report the shortfall using the note and months_missing. NEVER present partial_total as the figure for the period - a part-year sum given as an annual figure is a fabricated number. IMPORTANT - LEAD WITH THE AMOUNT, NOT THE PERCENTAGE. Where a percentage is null and a note is given, it was withheld deliberately because the comparison figure is tiny and the percentage would mislead. Quote the note and use the amount. Do not calculate the percentage yourself from the figures provided. Cost of sales carries derived: true - it is revenue less gross profit, not a figure the ledger reported. Some platforms report no gross profit at all, in which case both lines are null with a reason: a limit of the platform, never a nil balance. A null prior_period or prior_year means no comparable period was available - report that as no comparison available, NEVER as a decline. Read-only.
get_comparative_pl
Return the bank and ledger reconciliation checks available for this business's accounting platform: what each check found, and which checks could not be run. Use this ONLY for explicit reconciliation questions: 'is my bank reconciled', 'what's unreconciled', 'do my bank and ledger agree', 'is the bank balance matched'. NOT for 'are my books up to date', 'are my books ready', 'what is outstanding for last month' or anything month-end shaped - those are get_close_readiness, which covers sales, purchases, payroll, taxes and the balance sheet as well as the bank. Reconciliation is one input to a close, not the whole of it, so a reconciled bank does not mean the books are ready. IMPORTANT: this is a POSITION as at a date, not activity over a period - reconciliation is a balance-sheet question. Coverage varies by platform and each check says its own: a check with coverage 'full' carries a real count; 'partial' means the platform could not measure it and the count is null. A null count is NOT zero. Never report a partial or not_assessable check as clean or up to date - report it as unconfirmed and say the client should check in their accounting software. Checks listed in checks_not_available did not run; their absence is never a pass. Read-only, no arguments. Returns { tool, platform, as_at, checks[], checks_not_available[], limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_reconciliation_status
Return a time-limited secure link to download your latest PDF management pack (or a notice if none is on file yet). Read-only, no arguments. Returns { tool, report_url, expires_in_seconds, period, data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_report_link
Return indicative registration-threshold and company-tax monitors from your run-rate: whether annualised turnover is approaching the consumption-tax registration threshold for the business's OWN jurisdiction (VAT in the UK, GST in Australia), and an indicative company tax estimate for limited companies. The threshold, the tax name and the currency all come from the payload - use them as given, and never restate another jurisdiction's figure. Indicators from the run-rate — not a statutory rolling-12-month turnover figure, and not a filed or lodged return. DOES NOT compute a VAT or GST return, a liability for a period, or an amount payable: no transaction-level tax data is held. Information, not advice. Read-only, no arguments. ALSO RETURNS distribution_assessment: whether the company's accounts pass the SUPPORTED FINANCIAL CHECK for a dividend (profits available for distribution on the ledger, with the working-paper lines and their sources, the basis, the dates, and what is still outstanding). A pass means only that the supported check passes - it is NOT permission to pay, not a solvency judgement and not advice; the directors decide. COVERAGE: UK private companies limited by shares with ordinary shares of equal rights, on Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent. Australia and then the US are planned, for Nella Pro only. Anything else returns status not_covered or unassessable with the reason - report that reason, never a figure of your own.
get_tax_and_compliance_indicators
Return who your biggest customers and suppliers are for the last complete month: ranked lists with names, amounts and percentage shares (e.g. 'top 5 suppliers', 'who are my biggest customers'), plus headline concentration figures ('how concentrated is my revenue', 'customer concentration'). Defaults to the last complete month; year and month request another ('top customers in July'). ONE MONTH PER CALL - these are shares of that month's invoices and do not sum across months, so a multi-month question needs a call per month and must not be answered by adding them up. A month that is not held says so: that is a gap in what has been collected, never a month with no customers. Read-only. IMPORTANT: these figures are a share of sales invoices raised in the period, ex-VAT — they are NOT P&L revenue, and income banked without an invoice is not included. Always state that basis when reporting them. Supplier figures are unavailable on FreeAgent and Sage. Returns { tool, period, platform, basis, headline, customers[], suppliers[], limitations[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
get_top_customers_and_suppliers
See how your key figures (gross margin, net margin, debtor days, current ratio) compare with external reference ranges for your sector — whether each sits below, within or above the typical range, with the source of each range. These are published sector benchmarks, NOT a comparison with other AccTek clients. Read-only, no arguments. Information, not advice.
get_vertical_benchmarks
Gives or stops the business's consent for Nella to prepare work it offers on the team board, such as chase messages for overdue invoices. Copy about from the offer card's consent block; value grant gives consent and stop withdraws it, and each reverses the other. Call it only when the user presses the offer's button or says so after the offer's wording has been shown to them. It changes only what Nella may prepare, in Nella: it does not send, pay, start a charge or change the accounting records. A plan or anything with a charge is not taken here. A refusal records nothing and says why.
set_workflow_consent
List sales invoices, bills and expenses from your connected accounting platform (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent) — amounts, counterparties, dates and status, plus any receipts attached to them. Use this for 'which invoices haven't been paid', 'what's overdue', 'who owes me and how late are they', 'what did we spend at X', 'find the invoice for Y'. Covers money already spent by card or bank transfer, not just unpaid bills — many businesses have hundreds of the first and none of the second. Read-only; your own books only. To download a document, call get_invoice_or_bill_link with the doc_ref this returns. THIS IS YOUR ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE, not your Nella document library. Management accounts, board papers and engagement letters are not here — they live in the Nella portal. OVERDUE MEANS UNPAID AND PAST ITS DUE DATE, worked out from the amounts and dates rather than read from the platform — no accounting platform has an 'overdue' status of its own. The date it was judged against is stated. A document with no due date CANNOT BE JUDGED either way: it is not counted as overdue and not counted as current, and the count of those is given. READ coverage_note BEFORE SAYING HOW MANY. Some platforms cannot filter by status at source, so the filter is applied to the documents on this page only. Where that happened the note says so, and a short or empty result then means 'none on this page', NOT 'none in the ledger' — say that rather than reporting a total. If status is no_data the documents could NOT be read — that is different from the business having none, and the message says which.
list_invoices_and_bills
List the documents in your NELLA LIBRARY — management accounts, board papers, share capital, company filings, tax, engagement letters and other. These are documents added by you or AccTek, or filed by Nella itself (a board minute or dividend voucher, for example). THIS IS NOT YOUR ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE. For sales invoices, bills, receipts and their attachments — the documents in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent — use list_invoices_and_bills instead. If you are unsure which the user means, ask: an engagement letter or a board pack is here; an invoice or a supplier bill is in the accounting platform. Read-only, always your own library only. Returns { tool, documents[], count, sections[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }. Each document carries an id for get_library_document, plus title, filename, section, size and who added it. This is a catalogue: it does not include document content, and it does not search inside documents. Optional category filters to one section.
list_library
Prepare, and once the director confirms, issue a board decision to pay a dividend: the board minute and a dividend voucher for each shareholder, filed in the company's Nella Library. Two steps. step 'prepare' records or updates a DRAFT only (not a decision) and returns the working paper, the allocations, links to the draft documents and a preview_version. Show the working paper and the allocations to the director, and ask them to read the draft. step 'confirm_and_issue' records the SIGNED-IN director's own confirmation of that exact preview_version, as the director gives it in the conversation. It is refused if the draft changed since, if the check does not pass, or if the signed-in person is not a director. Where more than one director must confirm, each of the others confirms from their own sign-in; no one confirms for another. A pass means only that the supported financial check passes - never phrase it as permission to pay. COVERAGE: UK private companies limited by shares with ordinary shares of equal rights, on Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent; a company's first dividend is recorded in the Nella portal. Australia and then the US are planned, for Nella Pro only. Anything else is refused with the reason. Writes inside Nella only - it does not pay anyone or post to the books.
record_director_decision
Records in Nella that a filing or payment obligation was done, or was not done after all. Use it only when the user says so or presses Mark done on a card. Copy obligation, action and period from that obligation's settlement block (get_obligations or a get_team_board card); for done, on is the date the user says it happened. It updates Nella's own records only: it does not file, pay or change the accounting records. The result says what Nella now shows and gives the exact call that undoes it; a refusal records nothing and says why.
record_obligation_status
Model a what-if on the MONTHLY run-rate cash projection (the next six months, in the business's own currency): a hire, a lost or won client, a price change, or a one-off spend or receipt. This is not the week-by-week schedule from get_cash_forecast. Give a 'preset' and its parameters: 'hire' (amount = all-in monthly cost), 'lose_client' / 'gain_client' (amount = monthly revenue), 'price_change' (pct and monthly_revenue), 'one_off' (amount, negative = spend, and month). start_month and month must fall inside the projection; a month outside it is refused, never moved. Returns the baseline and the scenario side by side, whether the scenario changes when (or whether) cash goes negative, and the month-by-month difference. If a required parameter is missing or invalid, has_scenario is false and limitations says why: report that, never the baseline as if it were the scenario. A projection, not advice, and read-only. READ limitations AND RELAY THEM: where the projection schedules no tax payments it says so, and tax will then take cash below the figures shown. Returns { tool, has_scenario, scenario_name, baseline, scenario, comparison, advisory_context[], data_freshness, advice_note, as_of }.
run_cash_scenario
Saves the option the user chose for a question Nella asked them: a setup question on the obligations timeline or the team board, a change to an answer already given, or the user confirming they have read a month-end close review. Copy question_id (or about, to change an answer or for a close review) and the chosen option's value from the question. Call it only with an option the user chose, never one you pick for them. It writes only to Nella's own records. The result says what was saved; an answer is corrected by answering again; a refusal records nothing and says why.
answer_question
The business's finance team board: everything open, ranked by what needs attention first, with the seat that owns each card (Finance Director, Management Accountant, Financial Controller, Treasury, Receivables, Payables, Tax & Compliance, Payroll, Company Secretarial). Cards are work the business must act on, statutory dates, things Nella noticed, and work someone else holds. Prepared work carries a proposed action, whether approval is required, and how complete the check behind it was. Open with this when the user asks what needs them, how things stand, or what to do first. Where a card has a reason, quote it; an empty reason means no single factor ranked it, so never supply one. If coverage.deadlines_shown is false, deadlines were not assessed here: say so, never that none are due. Read-only; no arguments.
